Inspired by the two full (blue) moons in both January and March of 2018, the surface of this human-sized origami rocket is awash with the streaks and lines of moontrails. Constructed from large strips of exposed cyanotype paper, taped together then folded, the piece measures nearly 2m in length.
Produced spefically to be installed in the ice-house during the 2018 seasonal exhibition at Burghley Scultpure Garden, the piece transformed the small subterranean structure into a psuedo missile silo, rocket poised and ready to launch.
The title derives from an experimental British missile from the 1950’s with the identical codename.
A short animation of the making of the piece can be found here.
